Last weekend Mr. Bottelier and Mr. Roberts spent a Saturday morning using a table saw to rip the 2’ by 4’ sheets of plywood into our standard template size of 12” by 24”. The sheets are a special version of aircraft plywood from a distributor that specializes in wood to cut with a laser. It minimizes dead spots and uses an adhesive that reacts better with a CO2 beam than more traditional options. The American manufacturer was originally in the business of making jigsaw puzzles, but felt a need to produce his own plywood products to minimize burning on his artwork. Here we have 40 resized sheets stacked, clamped, and ready to get carved up by student designs.
