Tufted Titmouse
Scientific name: Baeolophus bibolor
The Tufted Titmouse or Baeolophus Bibolor is a small songbird that lives mainly in Northern America. They are grey, with large black eyes, and with a tuft of feathers on their head. When they sing, they can be distinguished by their “peter-peter-peter” call. The Tufted Titmouse live most commonly in woods, parks, and backyards. They prefer densely packed trees where they can fly through the canopies. They feed upon seeds, nuts, berries, and bugs. When they eat, they hold the food with their feet, and hammer or peck with their beaks.

Architecture style
Our design was based off the De La Warr Pavilion. This pavilion consists of a lot of layers. Olivia was inspired by the multiple stories on the building. The main balconies were on the circular part of the building. Using the inspiration of the building, Olivia incorporated those ideas into the design of her birdhouse by making the design have multiple layers and a circular shape.
The Design Process
For this specific birdhouse, we created the prototype first. This is because our birdhouse relies heavily on 3D aspects. One revision we had to make as a group was readjusting the measurements. The measurements of the birdhouse originally was too large. The group had to scale it down so that it fit the measurements for the specific wood we were limited to. The group also had to be cognizant of the size of the bird. The other revision we made as a group was deciding to use two slabs of wood per layer. Since the wood came as a specific width, we realized that using one slab of wood per layer would make the birdhouse extremely thin. We revised the design and decided to use two slabs of wood per layer. This allowed the birdhouse to be an appropriate width without it being too small or thin. After making the revisions, the group agreed on the final design. The final design conformed to every restriction that was present and allowed for a successful design.

The Riding Centre
The Riding Centre is a nonprofit organization that provides horseback riding lessons for children and adults. The Riding Centre allows anyone of any ability, age, and socioeconomic backgrounds to benefit from the day camps, group and private lessons, and their therapeutic riding program. Olivia and Kara both have personal connections to the Riding Centre and Yellow Springs. Olivia grew up in Yellow Springs. She took riding lessons from the Riding Centre and often spent time there. She loves horses and being around them. Kara has a personal connection to the Riding Centre because of its location in Yellow Springs. Her grandfather was mayor of Yellow Springs for many years and he lives across from the Riding Centre. The Riding Centre is somewhere where birds and people can benefit from the birdhouse.
